How to Make Your Own Paper EnvelopesUse one of our two free printable templates, one wider and one taller, to make your own homemade envelopes. These envelopes can be cut out from plain paper, or from magazine pages, old calendars, scrap paper or gift wrap.
If our two templates don’t suit your purpose, you could also easily make your own template by taking apart a used envelope of the right size and using it as your template instead.
Craft Supplies:
- Paper
- Glue
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Wider Envelope Template or Taller Envelope Template (printed and cut out)
Craft Instructions:
Select the paper that you wish use, place the template on top of the paper, and lightly trace around the template with a pencil. Use the ruler to transfer the inside fold lines to your outline.
Carefully cut out all around the pencilled pattern.
Fold the paper on all the drawn lines.
Glue back the two side pieces of the envelope. Insert your letter or card. Glue down the back flap seal.
Tips:
If you are using our templates and you need a different size, you should be able to adjust the measurements, as needed, in a graphics program. Your printer software may also provide options for adjusting the size.
