You don’t need to buy polished rocks for this nature project; you can find pretty rocks and pebbles outside, in almost any terrain, that will work very well as the base for glittered decorations.
What You Will Need:
» A variety of smooth rocks and pebbles in sizes of your choice.
» white craft glue
» glitter in the color and texture of your choice
» small paper plates
What You Do:
Wash your pebbles or rocks and dry them thoroughly.
Place a puddle of white glue in a paper plate. Place a quantity of glitter on another paper plate.
Take one pebble at a time and roll it, first in the glue, and then in the glitter, and place on another paper plate to dry. This may take from half an hour to two hours or more, so please be patient.
Once the glitter and glue coatings have dried, add another coat of white glue to keep the glitter from flaking off. Let dry completely.
For Message Rocks:
It’s easy to write your own messages in glitter on rocks or pebbles. For this you will need a bottle of white glue with a fine tip that allows you to “write” letters or small icons, such as a heart shape.
Hint: Practice first, to make sure you can make the shapes and letters that you want. Just wash the practice pebble and let dry before using it for the real thing.
Write the letters, and create the shapes, on the pebble you like, then sprinkle with glitter. Shake off the excess glitter and allow the pebble to sit without touching for as long as it takes for the glue and glitter to dry.
