This DIY decorated pillbox started life as a dollar store buy, but is transformed into a pretty and practical homemade gift made with paint markers.

- plastic pill box

Craft Project Instructions:
When you have to take medication every day, a pillbox separated into the days of the week helps to keep things organized. Each day’s dose of pills has it’s own compartment, keeping your medication schedule on track.
However, a drugstore bought pillbox like the one above is usually made of some opaque plastic, with raised letters designating each day. The letters can be very difficult to see, particularly for elderly people or those with poor eyesight.
A simple solution is to highlight the letters, using paint marker in a contrast colour of your choice. Here, my letters are ‘red letter’ days, and I drew some simple flowers, grass, and lines in other paint marker colours just to brighten up the pillbox itself.
You could also try just painting each compartment lid in one solid colour and highlighting the letters in another. Add polka dots, when the paint is dry, or leave plain but create a rainbow of alternating colours for the lids, so that Monday is solid red, Tuesday is purple, Wednesday is blue etc., with the letters picked out in white.
This is a nifty little gift for anyone you know who has to take medication on a daily basis and it costs only a dollar or two to make.
