Need a festive contribution for your friend’s Christmas get-together, your office party, or a family buffet? Consider making a healthy Christmas tree platter of colorful, fresh veggies with an optional dip, served in a vegetable bowl, on the side.
.
Ingredients and Instructions:
The must-have vegetable, of course, is broccoli, which you should cut into bite-size florets and assemble in a triangular Christmas tree shape in the middle of a rectangular or oval platter.
Below the broccoli tree, add a “trunk” of asparagus stalks, celery sticks, or straight pretzel sticks.
Now add your choice of Christmas tree decorations: bright red grape tomatoes can be arranged randomly or in a garland pattern. Sliced carrot circles can also be added for contrasting color.
Assemble a small hill of button mushrooms, or sliced radishes, around the base.
Top the vegetable Christmas tree with a slice of star fruit. If this is unavailable, assemble a star from slices of yellow or red pepper, or from small triangles of cheddar cheese.
Optional Vegetable Bowl Dip
If desired, cut the top from a sweet pepper and remove the seeds to make a vegetable bowl. Fill the hollow with your favourite dip and place it beside the tree.
