Crochet a granny square water bottle carrier for anyone who likes to take a water bottle out with them. The bottle is easier to tote around and you can make the handle long enough to suit your needs, whether that’s cross-body or over-your-shoulder. Either way, it’s pretty and practical too.
You Will Need:
- your choice of worsted weight yarn
- crochet hook (I used 4.5mm size)
- crochet thread
- buttons
- large eye needle
- water or drink bottle, preferably not throwaway plastic
Five petal ruffled flowers, reminiscent of hibiscus, are made after the water bottle carrier pattern then secured wherever you like with hot glue or a small stitch or two. This bonus flower pattern is versatile. With worsted weight yarn and a 4.5 needle, my flowers were about 2-1/2 inches across. If you want them smaller, use lighter weight yarn or crochet thread and a smaller crochet hook.

Editor’s Note: This free pattern is a companion to my free crochet Granny Squares Bag Pattern.
Both bags use the same basic granny squares but the larger bag uses more squares, larger panels and a simple fabric lining.
Older images can’t show details like the crocheted flower pattern added to this sweet water carrier bag, But I followed the flower pattern for the first time, took digital photos, and added them to our free crocheted flower pattern collection.
These remind me of five petal hibiscus flowers and are really very sweet accessories for any crocheted accessory,
My granddaughters wanted these flowers in their hair. Of course, with smaller yarn and hook, that will happen soon.
