This plump little feathered turkey chalkboard craft wants to perch on your fridge and remind you to “Eat Ham!” for Thanksgiving Day!
by Twila Lenoir
Craft Supplies:
- Circle chalk board (or cardboard circle painted matte black – or with chalkboard paint – and a slightly larger circle of cardboard painted brown to use as a backing and frame for the faux chalkboard; just glue the two together)
- Small wood disk
- Acrylic paint (black, white, red, yellow and brown)
- 11 assorted feathers
- magnet
- glue
Instructions: .
First get the hot glue gun heating then trace the circle chalk board on a piece of felt or cardboard. Glue that circle to the back of the chalk board. Now paint the rim on the chalk board if needed and paint the circle disc brown. Hot glue the disc on the top of the chalk board.
Next, pick out the colors of feathers you want to use and arrange them in the order you want to glue them on the back of the circle board. By now, your painted pieces should be dry. Start gluing your feathers, starting with the first one in the middle top of the turkey head. Then start gluing the feathers left and right of the center feather.
Glue on the simple face, and don’t forget to write eat ham!
Last, glue a small magnet on the back of your turkey to fix it to a fridge, a locker or another metal surface.
