Create a horn of plenty for Fall or Thanksgiving with the help of silk mums, leaves, gourds – and, for ease of assembly, a glue gun.
Supplies:
- Wicker horn of choice
- Fall Leaves bunch
- Mixed gourds of choice
- Fall Mums bush
- Floral wire
- Hot glue gun and glue [optional]
Instructions:
These are very easy to make and they make wonderful table centerpieces.
Using a small piece of wire attach your fall leaves bush to the horn. Attach by pushing a loop of wire through the bottom of the horn and twisting around the bush inside of the horn. Be sure that they are secure.
Allow the majority of the leaves to overhang the horn and fill your horn with mixed gourds. To reduce the number of gourds required, insert a little newspaper at the bottom of the horn. This way you won’t have to fill the entire horn.
Once you have an arrangement that is suitable, you can either be very careful with your arrangement when moving it or secure the pieces with a little hot glue. I prefer to leave the pieces loose, then if I change my mind or find nicer or more unusual gourds, I can easily make the change.
Cut a few branches from a bush of fall mums and insert the flowers randomly through the leaves. For an average size arrangement, three to five flowers are enough. If necessary, secure the flowers with a small piece of floral wire to the leaves bush.
>That’s all there is to it!
Variation:
A good variation is to replace the gourds with fresh vegetables or fruit. Real leaves are much nicer too!
