Potty Reindeer: Christmas Craft Idea
by Twila Lenoir
Recycle a clay or plastic plant pot to make this cheerful potted reindeer Christmas craft. This is a quick and easy project that should take less than 30 minutes.
You Will Need:
- clay or plastic plant pot
- brown pompom and small red pompom
- plastic craft eyes or paint your own
- craft fun foam
- gold pipe cleaner
- red thin ribbon
- silk holly leaves or use what you have
- printed ear pattern or draw your own
Project Instructions:
1. Pot Base: Paint the pot brown if you have to but I was lucky and bought these at the dollar store. They looked brown enough to me!
2. Assembly: Turn the pot upside down then glue, or stick on, on two plastic eyes. Glue a medium brown pompom centered below the eyes. Add the small red pompom on top of the brown one to make the reindeer’s nose.
3. Ears and Antlers: Print and trace the ear pattern or draw your own ear pattern onto fun foam and cut it out. Starting in the center of the pot, glue the ears on top of the pot. Bend a gold pipe cleaner in two loops and glue it in place, in front of the ears.Alternatively, you could also leave off the ears and make reindeer antlers from twisted fluffy chenille stems cut to a suitable size.
4. If desired, add holly leaves, or other Christmas foliage, in front of the ears and antlers. Finally, tie a homemade ribbon bow using thin red or green ribbon, and glue the bow in front of the leaves.

Why not make a herd of reindeer and use them as place settings on the Christmas table?
